Ethnic restaurants usher in delightful cuisine of El Parian

The signs are becoming more apparent that Fayette's ethnic mix is slowly beginning to change. Walk into any grocery store and the choices of ethnic food, especially Hispanic, have increased dramatically in the last few years.

With a more diverse population, ethnic restaurants start popping up and offering authentic food at a reasonable price. This month's Citizen's Choice for dining is one of the newest and best restaurants that has opened in Fayetteville. El Parian is located on Glynn Street and is in a small shopping center across Ga. Highway 85 from Cheryl's Antiques and offers good Mexican food at a reasonable price.

As you enter the restaurant, a friendly face greets you and welcomes you into Fayette's newest slice of Mexico. As you're seated, a warm basket of tortilla chips and good salsa arrives at the table immediately.

Perusing the menu can take a while since the eatery offers everything from tacos and burritos to chimichangas. When you go, make sure to order a dish with the restaurant's fabulously cooked chicken. The chicken is seasoned perfectly and is served piping hot in a variety of dishes including awesome fajitas and quesadillas.

Many Mexican restaurants make the mistake of over seasoning and leaving the helpless customer looking for a glass of water. In all the dishes I've tried at El Parian, the chef used a deft hand with the seasonings and gives you a nice Southwestern taste without looking for a fire extinguisher.

If you have a hankering for nachos, this is the place to get them. El Parian's nachos are served on a huge plate with tortilla chips smothered in cheese and other choices, such as beef and jalapenos.

One of the restaurant's more unique offerings in the desert nachos. A plate of hot tortilla chips is covered with sugar and cinnamon and serves as the perfect ending to a wonderful trip to Mexico.
