William J. Murray, the Christian son of well-known
atheist Madalyn Murray O"Hair, will speak Monday Aug. 17 at 7
p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Peachtree City.
Murray was an active atheist, the subject of his mother's
legal actions against religious activities in schools, until 1980
when he became a Christian. He says his "initial introduction to
God" came through a 12-step program when he was in recovery
for alcolohism. O'Hair cut her ties with William after he walked
away from her ways of thinking, and the two have not spoken in
about 20 years.
Murray is outspoken on the effect of legal decisions
against Bible reading and prayer in public schools as a contributing factor
to moral decay in America. For more information about his
appearance, call 770-487-8133, extension 201. The church is located at
211 Willowbend Road in Peachtree City.
