Obituaries

John Burch Harp Sr.

John Burch Harp Sr., 85, Fayetteville, died Aug. 7, 1998. He was born July 5, 1913 in Fayette County. He was the son of W.E.M. and Blanche Burch Harp. He farmed family land for 77 of his years, growing up with two brothers and three sisters in the Harps Crossing area on South Ga. Highway 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lunceford Harp.

Services were held at the Inman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Harp Jr., the Rev. Davis Chappell and the Rev. David Campbell officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery, with the Davidson Masonic Lodge #334 F&AM in charge of the graveside services.

Survivors include sons, John B. (and Betty) Harp Jr., Charles E. Harp, David (and Gayle) Harp, Kenny (and Brenda) Harp, all of Fayetteville, and Bill (and Janie) Harp, Jonesboro, Ga.; a daughter, Patsy (and Moody) Elliott, Fayetteville; a brother, Donald (and Doris) Harp Sr., Fayetteville; and a sister, Ida Mae Griffin, Fayetteville.

There are 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Inman United Methodist Church building fund, 1523 Hills Bridge Rd., Fayetteville, Ga., 30215.

Stephen Roy Roberson

Stephen Roy Roberson, 17, of Fayetteville, died Aug. 2, 1998. He was born Aug. 10, 1980 in Clayton County, Ga. He was a 1998 graduate of Fayette County High School.

Services were held at Carl J. Mowell Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Watson officiating.

Survivors include his mother, Raylene Roberson, Fayetteville; a brother, Philip Ray Roberson, Fayetteville; grandparents, Ray and Marian Smith, Riverdale, Ga., and George and Lorine Roberson, Fayetteville; aunts and uncles, Percy and Norma Shierling, Fayetteville, Rhonda McLeroy, Riverdale, and John and Linda Roberson, Newnan; and cousins, Tim and Kristin Reagan, Brandon, Kathy and Beth Shierling and Amanda Roberson.

Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ophelia Mund

Ophelia Mund, 71, Brooks, died July 31, 1998. She was born Jan. 15, 1927 in Newberry, Fla.

Services were held at the Carl J. Mowell Chapel with Bishop Edwards officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Mund, Brooks; a son, Sonny (and Fay) Hodge, Fayetteville; a granddaughter, Cindy (and Robert) Haney, Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Alaina Heard, Fayetteville; brothers, Hugo Crocker, Hawthorne, Fla., and Larsen Crocker, Gainesville, Fla.; sisters, Mary Tompkins, Archer, Fla., and Clara Tompkins, Jacksonville, Fla.
