Joy FM extends signal to N. Atlanta
WVFJ 93.3 FM is now reaching farther into the Atlanta
market with its contemporary Christian format and popular Christian
talk programs such as Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family.
The new transmitter and 1,600-foot tower, located in
Meriwether County, utilize the latest digital technology. This
enhances WVFJ's signal quality and expands coverage from the
Macon area to the Metro Atlanta counties of Cobb, Fulton, Dekalb and
South Gwinnett.
New studios and offices are currently under construction
in the Publix shopping center in eastern Peachtree City. The project
is expected to be completed by Sept. 1.
The station is now the first-ever commercial FM signal with a
contemporary Christian format to broadcast within Atlanta's
Interstate 285 perimeter. The 1,600-foot tower is the tallest in
Georgia without a TV antenna.
WVFJ 93.3 will undergo several on-air changes as well,
including transition from the current tag, "The Joy FM," to "J
93.3, Atlanta's Contemporary Christian FM." The format remains
the same, featuring music from a variety of artists including
Bob Carlisle, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, DC Talk and
the NewsBoys.
The station was recently named the number 20 radio station in
the Atlanta market, and Arbitron estimates its cume persons
(number of different people who listen to a station for at least five minutes
in a quarter-hour) at 101,200.
For more information about the changes at "J 93.3, Atlanta's
Contemporary Christian FM," contact station General Manager
