Baseball

Sandy Creek High School Booster Club is looking for softball players from the Fayette or Peachtree City Church Leagues to join in the Patriot Classic Softball Tournament. Entry fee $100/team. teams provide their own balls. Gary Teal, 770-631-8795 or 404-778-5858.

The Peachtree City Bulls traveling baseball club will have tryouts for the 1998 fall season at Braelinn Field behind Oak Grove Elementary School. Sessions will take place August 2 at 5 p.m., August 4 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. Players are encouraged to attend at least two sessions. Cheerleading

McIntosh junior varsity cheerleaders and Coach Caroline McMurry have scheduled a cheerleading clinic for grades 1-8, August 10-14 from 9:30 a.m. till 12 p.m. Cost/$50 includes t-shirt, snacks and surprises. Cycling

The Fayette County Bicycle Club is being formed by the Fayette County Recreation Department. Club meets Saturdays at 9 a.m. at the Kiwanis Recreation Center. 770-461-9714.

Football

PTC Youth Football Association is offering football camp July 27-31, 9 a.m. till noon, at Riley Field. Cost/$65 includes t-shirt. Ages 5-13. Call 770-251-3656.

The Brooks Area Recreation Department will accept registration for the 1998 Brooks Bears football season July 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the field house complex. Golf

1998 Summer Break Junior Golf Clinics will take place at Wendell Coffee Golf Center in Tyrone throughout the summer. Designed to teach the basics of golf, each junior receives instruction according to his/her level of play. Fee includes unlimited range balls and use of the 18 hole Rocky Creek Putting Course, snacks and drinks and competition for prizes. Age groups are 6-10 years, 10-14 years and 14-17 years. The 1998 First Annual Panther Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, August 17. Sponsored by the Panther Athletic Booster Club, there will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with a Florida scramble format. Entry fee/$65. Includes golf and cart, prizes, range balls and cookout. A golf tournament is set for Sept. 12 at The Links in Jonesboro. The First Annual St. Francis High School Golf Tournament has an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Shooting

The Fayette County Extension Service is accepting registration for its 4-H shooting sports program. Information, 770-460-5730, ext. 412.

Fayette County's 4-H Modified Trap Shooting team is looking for male and female shooters, grades 7-12. Shooters must have parental permission, have completed a hunter's safety course and furnish their own shells. Team shotguns are available. There is room for 20 new members. Soccer

Fayette County's Youth Soccer League will have a pre-season recreational camp, Aug. 17-19 at McCurry Park. Under 6 will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m., under 8 and 10 from 6-8 p.m. Cost/$40 (under 6) and $50 (under 8 and 10). All players receive a soccer ball for training. Call 770-460-8070.

Registration for Fayette County Youth Soccer League fall soccer season is set for July 25 and Aug. 1 at McCurry Park from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. If you haven't played with FCYSL previously, you must bring a birth certificate. Call 770-460-8070.

Lightning Under 15 boys soccer team will have evaluations for possible positions on the black team which plays in the Georgia Premier "A" Division at McCurry Park, August 1 at 3 p.m. For info, call 770-460-8070.

The Fayette County Youth Soccer League and Lightning Soccer have gone online with a new web site, located at www.fcysl.org. The page contains information on registration, tournaments and maps to the fields. The College Challenge Game, camps, and tryout information will be posted as information is available. There is also a hot information section for news about the leagues.

Softball

The Fayette County Recreation Dept. is offering a fall softball league for adults. Registration is July 27 and 28 for returning teams; July 29-31 for new teams. Cost $250/team. Call 770-461-9714.

Swimming

Two arthritis aerobics classes are scheduled in the mornings at Kedron Aquatic Center. Also, Lori Bennison teaches a regular water aerobic class mornings and Linda Vaughn has a regular water aerobic class in the

Volleyball

Misc.

Peachtree City's Recreation Dept. is having a program for kids 7-12 at Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Supervised activities will include floor hockey, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball and others. Gym South is Fayetteville is offering Campnastics this summer for children 5-13. Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Activities include gymnastics, bowling, skating, basketball, cheering, martial arts, outdoor games and more. Runs June through August 12.
