Letters from Our Readers
[Fayette County] Commissioner [Harold] Bost asked a very
good question: Why is there such a rush to review Fayette's land use plan?
I've heard politicians say it needs to be updated. Well, using
the word updated means changed, right!?! And that's exactly what's
been going on for over a year now.
Every time a rezoning is granted, you change the land use plan.
I think the land use plan has been updated a few times too
many, actually.
Commissioner [Glen] Gosa, what's your big hurry? Could it
be because the controlling three will not be together much longer? Is
this a last-ditch effort to grant rezoning to certain developer friends (of
a certain three) without them having to present a petition at a
public hearing?
And why, Mr. Gosa, are you so urgently interested in getting
zoning changes for the Lake Horton area? What's in it for you? Lake
Horton is just right the way it is.
I also object to Mr. Gosa appointing Mike Lorber to the
committee to review the land use plan. He has been before the
commissioners more than once seeking rezoning. Putting him on the committee is
like putting a kid in a candy store and saying, "Go for it!"
One last comment for certain current commissioners. On July 21
the people of Fayette County sent a very clear message about the
direction this county has been heading. Two commissioners have been
indisputably voted out. Terminated. Fired.
I don't think this board, at this time, should make any
long-range decisions. Let the new Board of Commissioners present their
ideas come January.
