Bad Links? | Trout Unlimited chapter meeting in PTCThe local Trout Unlimited Chapter, Flint River Chapter #243 based in Peachtree City, would like to extend an open invitation to anyone interested in fishing and/or water conservation. The group officially meets at least once a month to exchange a wide range of information by listening to presentations, testing new gear, practicing casting, tying flies, and even going fishing. The chapters goals are to promote the heritage of sport fishing and to educate citizens the importance of wildlife conservation and the protection of our water resources. The chapter has recently elected their new board members for this year and there are many events and activities scheduled on the calendar. One of the ongoing events that the chapter is very proud of is assisting the Boy Scout Troops of Fayette County. The Chapter has organized a group of members that instructs the Scouts the techniques, types of gear and the tactics of fly fishing. This extensive course enables the participating Scouts to obtain a Fly Fishing Merit Badge. There has already been several courses completed and there are more scheduled for the upcoming year. Anyone is welcome to the meetings. You can be a seasoned fisherman with years of experience or someone who has never picked up a rod before but has an interest. Environmentalists and naturalists are just as welcome. If you have any questions or need further details please contact Jeff Bryan at 706-977-9256 or email dnr321@bellsouth.net. Their next meeting will take place Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Planterra clubhouse in Peachtree City. The presentation will be about the origins and history of the chapters namesake, the Flint River. This is a wonderful program that everyone will enjoy. Please make every effort to attend. The social starts at 6:30 p.m. and then the program will begin at 7:30 p.m. |
