What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | The fair comes to Fayette
It is fall in Fayette County and that means its time for the annual Kiwanis fair! This weekend brings the 54th Annual Fayette County Kiwanis Fair. For the first time the fair will include two weekends. The fair, which will open on October 7 and close October 15, will once again be held at the Kiwanis Fair Complex located on Goza Road in Fayetteville. As always, the Kiwanis Club is focusing on the Fayette County community by planning a fair that will cater to everyone in the County and all surrounding areas. While keeping the traditional fair favorites such as Student Night and the Chili Cook-off, new exciting events have also been added to this years fair. The Kiwanis Fair will host its first Hot Dog Eating Contest. While watching the hungry contestants compete for a monetary prize, onlookers may choose to chow down on the newly named Famous Kiwanis Klassic Dog. Student night will take place both Tuesday and Thursday nights. There will be 83,000 tickets printed for Fayette County and Clayton County school students. The Kiwanis Club of Fayette County was founded on September 21, 1951. Over fifty years ago, members began the tradition of hosting special events such as the fair and contributing funds raised to charitable organizations and the Fayette County community. The Fayette County Kiwanis Fair is the clubs main event of the year, states Geneva Weaver, Chairman of this years fair. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and generated to shape the future of the Fayette County community. Fair hours are weekdays 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. Gate admission is free for those 4 and under, $2 for those ages 5-11, $5 for those ages 12-64 and $2 for those 65 and up. Armnabds for fair rides will cost $15 Monday through Thursday and $18 on Friday and Saturday. For more information about the fair or the Kiwanis Club, or to request sponsorship information, please contact Geneva Weaver at 770-855-4641.
