FFUMC to offer grief class beginning Oct. 20Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer a five-week class which will focus on what grief and loss are like, what grieving people need, and what others can do and say to help create an environment for healing. Classes will be held Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m., from Oct. 20 through Nov. 17. The facilitator will be Carol Sue Ray. The cost is $12 to cover the manual. Rockettes performance on tap for NHBC seniorsThe senior citizens group at National Heights Baptist Church will travel to the Fox Theater in Atlanta for the Sunday, Nov. 27, performance of the famous Radio City Rockettes. Peachland, Diplomats to perform at FFUMCFayetteville First United Methodist Church will sponsor a Southern Gospel concert Sunday, Nov. 13, beginning at 6 p.m., in the main sanctuary of the church. Proceeds will support the retirement of a mortgage for FFUMCs Family Life Center. The concert will feature two groups: the Atlanta-based Peachland Quartet, and the Diplomats, who also are from Georgia. Grantville to host gospel singing Oct. 21,22This months gospel singings at Grantville are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22, beginning at 7 p.m. at the old Grantville Freight Depot. The concerts are free and usually last about 2 or three hours. Fridays featured groups are not being announced and will be a surprise. Saturdays performance will feature The Christianaires from LaGrange, the Knox Family from Tallahassee, Ala., and Young Spirit from Manchester. Campbellton UMC plans gospel sing, barbecueCampbellton United Methodist Church in South Fulton County will have a free gospel sing and activities for children and adults Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Gospel on the Grass will feature a different gospel singing group each hour on the lawn of the church. There also will be free tractor hayrides, a moonwalk, caricatures, face painting, historical tours, popcorn, cotton candy, candy apples and hot dogs for children 12 and under. The church also will sponsor a barbecue dinner as a fund raiser, and will offer barbecue plates for $6 each and homemade desserts for $1 each. The church is on Ga. Hope of Israel meets at Jonesboro 1st BaptistThe Hope of Israel Messianic Congregation is now meeting for worship each Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Celebration Room of the Recreation Outreach Center at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.
