Bad Links? | Local woman dies in N. Fayette crashBy JOHN MUNFORD A local woman was killed early Friday afternoon when her car ran off Ga. Highway 85 north near Roberts Road. Deanna Baker, 35, who lived in south Fayette County, was going north when she swerved into the right lane to avoid slowing or stopped traffic, police said. Baker lost control of her 1999 Chevy Blazer and it overturned, rolling down the embankment on the northbound side of the highway, police said. Baker, the only person in the SUV, apparently didnt wear a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. She died at the scene, police confirmed. The traffic ahead of Baker had slowed down or stopped to allow another vehicle to turn left into the crossover between the northbound and southbound lanes, police said. The investigation, which is being conducted by the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Fayette County Sheriffs Department, is ongoing, police said. |
