Bad Links? | JCPenney to open Oct. 7 in FayettevilleA major player in the retail market is coming to Fayetteville next week. The grand opening of the JCPenney department store at Banks Crossing Shopping Center is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7. The celebration begins with a ribbon-cutting at the store entrance at 8 a.m. This is one of seven new JCPenney stores opening around the United States that same day. The company will open three additional stores in November. "We're so excited to serve customers here in Fayetteville and the surrounding communities," said Store Manager Charles Fuller. "With the store's updated design, great merchandise assortment, services and our remarkable team of associates, we will be able to provide an outstanding and even more convenient shopping experience for our customers. We're inviting everyone to come and celebrate with us." The Fayetteville store, covering 98,840 square feet, is designed in the company's latest format in an effort to make shopping more convenient and enjoyable for customers. According to a company statement, customers will experience wider aisles for shopping carts, improved lighting and expedient customer service centers. The new store layout is designed to help shoppers easily locate major brands such as Arizona Jean Co., Chris Madden for JCPenney Home Collection, nicole by Nicole Miller, SouthPole, Worthington, Stafford, W, Bisou-Bisou, Oshkosh, Nike, St. John's Bay and more. The store also features a portrait studio and full-service salon that offers professional hair styling services, facials, pedicures, manicures, waxing and products from leading brands, such as Redken, Matrix, BioSilk, and Sebastian. In addition, customers can place orders or pick up catalog and Internet purchases at the store's catalog desk. Throughout grand opening week, customers can register to win a number of prizes, including a Chrysler 300C automobile, a 40-inch HDLCD television, and a laptop computer package. In addition, 20 lucky shoppers will win $250 gift cards to be used toward any JCPenney purchase. Other activities include product demonstrations and special discounts for the entire family. The 103-year-old retailer has served Georgia since 1924 and the new store will contribute approximately 160 jobs to the Fayette economy. Store hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.
