Bad Links? | Blessing for the Animals this weekendChrist Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host "A Blessing for the Animals" this Sunday afternoon. Bring your furry, fuzzy and feathered "best friends" to the church parking lot at 101 North Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree City at 2 p.m. RescueCats, Inc. will also have cats and kittens available for adoption. In the year 1209, Francis of Assisi left everything that he knew in order to pursue the Gospel. Throwing away a life of comfort, Francis put on the clothing of the homeless and wandered far and wide, without shoes, proclaiming Christ's gospel of liberating grace. He spread the Gospel to all who would listen, even preaching sermons to the birds and the flowers. Since he owned no house, or even a change of clothes, he learned first hand of the splendors of creation and regarded all created things as his sisters and brothers fellow heirs in salvation. We remember him and his followers by reminding ourselves of the all-embracing love of God as we bless our non-human brothers and sisters. Francis's life and Gospel witness are celebrated yearly by Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. For further information, contact the church office at 770-487-8717. |
