Bad Links? | Peachtree City Library to close Oct. 7Reopening at old location set for Oct. 30By JOHN MUNFORD As of Friday, Oct. 7, the Peachtree City Library will close its temporary location so workers can move back into the its newly renovated permanent home next to City Hall. The library is expected to fully re-open Saturday, Oct. 30, but the book drops will re-open for returns starting Saturday, Oct. 23. The librarys computer system will automatically adjust book due dates so none will be due between Oct. 7 and Oct. 23, officials said. Anyone needing to renew books or other materials can renew their books online as long as they have gotten a personal identification number (PIN) from the library before it closes Friday. PINs cannot be given out over the phone. Patrons can renew their materials over the phone by calling up any library thats part of the PINES system, including the Tyrone library at 770-487-1565; the Fayette County library at 770-461-8841; the Riverdale branch of the Clayton County library at 770-472-8100; and the Jonesboro branch of the Clayton County library at 770-478-7120. The library will still allow pick-up of materials put on hold even during the move, but pick-up will only happen at the downstairs entrance facing Picnic Park and the All Childrens Playground. Patrons using this service should call the library first, before stopping by, if they get an e-mail that the material is available for pick-up. During that time, the collection will not be available for browsing and patrons can only pick up materials that have been held for them. The new facility has multiple skylights to allow more natural light inside. It also has a large window looking out toward Lake Peachtree and several interior quiet rooms along with a stacked stone fireplace. Furniture and book shelving are not yet in the facility, as workers put on some of the finishing touches this week.
