Bad Links? | PTC lights out of sync for Hwy. 54 repavingWill go back online second week of Nov.By JOHN MUNFORD Motorists in Peachtree City have already noticed increased traffic difficulties on Ga. Highway 54 east of Hwy. 74 all the way to the city limits. Thats because the resurfacing of the road that started last week required the traffic light synchronization to be turned off by the Georgia Department of Transportation, said City Spokeswoman Betsy Tyler. The light synchronization system should be reactivated the second week in November, Tyler said. She added that the work on the project so far looks nice and the city is thankful the project is underway. Most of the road work and associated lane closures are happening from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly in an effort not to cause trouble for those commuting to and from work during the regular work day, DOT officials said. The DOTs contractor is resurfacing Hwy. 54 from the intersection of Hwy. 74 all the way through Fayetteville to the county line at the bridge over the Flint River. The recent road resurfacing project in Fayetteville also required that the traffic light synchronization system there be turned off for several weeks. |
