What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | Tickets now on sale for The Sound of MusicWith the cooperation and support of the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater, the Peachtree City Tourism Association, and season sponsor, Pyke & Associates, P.C., the hills of the amphitheater in Peachtree City will soon be alive with many talented residents performing a perennial family favorite, The Sound of Music. Based on the remarkable true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music has touched the hearts of audiences around the world. When Maria proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as a governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain Von Trapp. The Captain runs his home near Salzburg like the ship he once commanded, but all that changes when Maria arrives from the convent. Her natural warmth and kindness win over the incorrigible children and ultimately the Captain as well. However, their happiness is threatened when the Nazis invade Austria forcing the entire family to flee their homeland. Alison Chambers will portray the free-spirited Maria, who brings music back into the von Trapp house, falls in love with the Captain, and ultimately has to decide how she is meant to serve God. Barry Draper will play Captain Von Trapp, who finds his way back to music and his family. The seven Von Trapp children will be played by Emma Stitt as Liesl; Alex Couch as Friedrich; Caitlin Wade as Louisa; Nathan Pearson as Kurt; Shannon Wade as Brigitta; Paige McCauley as Marta; and Lauren Fennell as Gretl. The show is directed by Shirley Draper. The Sound of Music is currently in rehearsals for an Oct. 13-16 run (rain dates are Oct. 17-18) with performances beginning at 8 p.m. each of the four nights. The pre-show fun begins at 6:30 p.m. each night and includes sing-a-longs, opportunities to win a cameo role in the production, and a few other surprises as well. A limited number of tables are available each night, and all chair seats are general admission.
