First Presbyterian launches 40 Days programPeachtree City First Presbyterian Church will embark on a 40 Days of Community Campaign, with events planned for seven weekends beginning Oct. 2. The program is designed by pastor and author Rick Warren to help churches take the next step toward forming a vital sense of community. Warren is the author of The Purpose Driven Life, which has sold more than 14 million copies and is the best selling hardback nonfiction book in history. More than 20,000 churches, representing 80 different denominations and a dozen countries, have participated in Warrens 40 Days of Purpose spiritual journey. First Presbyterians 40 Days of Community will offer age-appropriate materials for children, youth and adults, a daily devotional book and journal, and weekly small group studies. A mission project is planned so that members not only can build a greater sense of community within the congregation, but also reach out to others. Events begin Wednesday, Sept. 21 with a Kick-off Rally, special dinner, music and small group opportunities. A church wide mission project is planned for Oct. 15. A Ministry Fair on Nov. 6 will give people an opportunity to get involved in a ministry that reaches out with a helping hand to others. The campaign culminates with Celebration Sunday on Nov. 13. Leading the campaign at First Presbyterian is the pastor, Dr. David Miller. Assisting are Wynette Whitehurst, Anne Lupo, Brooke Gregg, Tom Perkins, Robin Frawley, Marilyn Hare, Chris DeGroot, Karen Donahue, Gayle Gardner, Al Gardner, Terri Hartman, Tom Ramsey, Eric Stogner and Dan Vano.
