Bad Links? | Fairburn Festival set to beginBy BEN NELMS For more than 25 years, the city of Fairburn has annually welcomed and anticipated the Old Campbell County Homecoming in their quaint community in South Fulton County. This year the citys long time tradition is getting a makeover with the premier of Fairburns Festival of Arts, Antiques and Music. Fairburns Festival of Arts, Antiques and Music is a weekend long celebration that takes place in the heart of downtown Fairburn. Beginning Friday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. with music in local restaurants and "The Odd Couple, playing at the Southside Theatre at 8 p.m. The festival continues Saturday, Oct. 1, with festivities throughout downtown Fairburn. On West Broad Street, artists and antique dealers will display their wares at the Artist's and Antique Market from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Fairburn's Farmer's Market will take place from 8 a.m.-noon. Musical performances will be featured on the main stage, a new food court, and the Fairburn Festival Parade stepping off at 10 a.m. along West Broad Street. At the Old Campbell County Courthouse, in addition to tours and displays, this will also be the site for many of the festivals entertainment. Pony rides, face painting, and storytelling will be available for the children and an outdoor performance stage featuring a variety of various performance styles will all take place at the historic venue. The festival concludes with an early evening concert at the Courthouse stage at 5 p.m. and an encore presentation of The Odd Couple playing at the Southside Theatre at 8 p.m. The Fairburn Festival is part of an initiative of the Fulton County Arts Council, Tour de 29 event. The Festival has been created as a juried event designed to bring together the best of the best from the arts and antiques community. FFAA provides a venue for artists and antique dealers to sell original works of art and antiques in a professional environment as well as giving the Fairburn community and surrounding communities the chance to engage in an enriching and family oriented environment. We are excited about expanding our Festival and bringing the event to our historic Main Street. This new location will provide a wonderful venue for regional artists and antique dealers to display and sell their wares, said Fairburn Mayor Betty Hannah. Additionally it will provide the members of our community an enhanced fall festival to be enjoyed by all. For those interested in participating in the festival as artists, antique dealers, food vendors, or entertainment, the City of Fairburn is still accepting applications.
