What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | Fall RV-camping show set for Sept. 15-18The Atlanta Camping & RV Show celebrates its 30th anniversary when the doors open Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Atlanta Exposition Center South. This supermarket of RVs is the largest display under one roof in the Southeast. Some 200,000 square feet of space will be filled with luxury motor homes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and folding campers. Visitors shopping for a camper wont have to spend hours traveling in all directions on the interstate, because the major metro Atlanta dealerships from Conyers, Douglasville, Jonesboro, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Snellville and Tucker will be here, under one roof, just a few feet apart. The show also offers a host of booths featuring RV accessories, maintenance equipment, add-ons plus booths representing national and state parks, commercial campgrounds and vacation destinations. Everything is not for sale, though. The grand prize drawing this year will be for a years supply of free gas from Kroger. Some lucky visitors will win passes to the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Imagine actually driving a race car around the track a few times; one lucky winner will get to do just that, with a Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure good for 10 laps at AMS or six laps at Talladega. More will win Georgia state park passes. Celebrity appearances from Ludlow Porch, Rhubarb Jones and Dallas McCabe are scheduled along with educational seminars. And many, if this years show follows tradition, will become new RV owners. Its a great time to shop and a great time to buy because the RVing trend continues to grow, prices are right, low interest rates still prevail and visitors to the Atlanta Camping & RV Show can expect to save even more with serious special show prices. The strength of sales this spring and summer has demonstrated that regardless of gas price fluctuations, RV ownership is a good value, said RVIA president David Humphreys. Buyers recognize the economic advantages that RV travel delivers over flying, driving a car or taking a train or bus and staying in a motel or taking a cruise. As fuel prices go up, costs for all of these travel options rise, too, giving RV trips a continued edge on savings. The Atlanta Exposition Center South is at I-285 (Exit 55) and Jonesboro Road. Show hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for ages 55 and over, $5 for ages 6-16 and free for children under 6. Present your Kroger Plus card at the door Thursday only and receive one free admission with the purchase of one adult or senior full-price admission. Receive $1 off the regular admission price Friday, Saturday or Sunday with the Kroger Plus car. Plenty of free parking is available every day.
