Choice Homes dedicates newest Transplant HomeChoice Homes dedicated its 2005 Transplant Home at a ceremony Sept. 8 in Union City. This is the second time Choice Homes has donated the proceeds from a home sale to the Georgia Transplant Foundation. The event is free, open to the public and serves as a means to recognize all those involved with making the 2005 Transplant Home a success, including Choice Homes and their vendors who donated materials and time. Speaking at the event will be Christine Cook, a kidney transplant recipient, who lives in the Union City area and has utilized services provided by GTF. Kelly Dempsey, regional vice president for Choice Homes, commented, "As we have invested ourselves in the Atlanta region as a homebuilder, we are now investing in the Atlanta community as a whole. We are committed not only to providing quality, affordable housing, but also to providing others with excellent quality of life." The Georgia Transplant Foundation provides financial, emotional and educational assistance to organ transplant candidates, recipients, living donors, and their families. GTF is the primary source for transplant patient assistance for all solid organ transplantation in Georgia. "Waiting for and receiving an organ transplant can force your life into a whirlwind of emotions about finances, education, employment and insurance, and we're proud that we can help those Georgians that are going through this life-changing experience," said David Bakelman, executive director of the Georgia Transplant Foundation. "We invite the community to join us for this special event as we celebrate our partnership with Choice Homes, which has been so instrumental over the years in helping us serve Georgians in the transplant community."
