NAR contributes another $1 million to hurricane reliefThe National Association of Realtors announced last week that it will donate an additional $1 million to provide emergency relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The amount is in addition to an initial $150,000 donation made initially by NAR's Realtors Relief Foundation to help the three state Realtor associations establish relief funds to provide emergency assistance. Hundreds of thousands of families lost their homes in this disaster. More realtorshave been affected by Katrina than any other disaster in history," said NAR President Al Mansell of Salt Lake City. "Today Im asking the Realtor family to rise to the challenge, just as we did after 9/11 and the tsunami in Southeast Asia earlier this year. Mansell made a direct appeal to the nations 1.2 million Realtors to donate to the Realtors Relief Foundation, which will disperse 100 percent of the tax-deductible contributions directly for hurricane relief. Early response from the Realtor family has been strong.
