Helping HollowayAssociation constructs home for accident victimFamily and friends of 21-year-old J.T. Holloway gathered at a home site in Fayette County to celebrate the groundbreaking for a totally accessible home being constructed for him and his family by the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia, Brent Scarborough & Company and Jeff Betsill Homes. Holloway - a 260-lb. football-playing senior at Fayette County High School at the time was injured in an accident while out looking at Christmas lights with friends in December of 2001. Since the accident, he has been paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Holloway's mother, Barbara Holloway, said, "It's impossible to express the level of appreciation Victor (Holloway's father) and I have for this unbelievable gesture on the part of the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia. We have had the help of a graceful God and a loving family ... and now this. I teach at fourth grade at Spring Hill Elementary and Victor works at Liberty Baptist Church. Without the concern of the Midwest Georgia Home Builders, something like this would never have been possible. Everyone's goal has been to make J.T.'s. life as easy and happy as possible." "J.T.'s accident was a major life-altering experience for him and his family," said Jeff Betsill, one of the builders of the home and a member of the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia Board of Directors. "As homebuilders we have the privilege - and responsibility of being involved in the day-to day lives of residents of our communities as few other professionals have. We welcome the opportunity to be a part of making J.T.'s life and his family's a little easier and more fulfilling." The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia is sponsoring a series of fundraising events with proceeds going to the construction of the J.T. Holloway home. The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether, Heard, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Butts and Jasper counties. More information about the group can be obtained by calling Sandy Boda, executive officer, at the association office, 770-716-7109.
