Grantville Gospel sings will spill over into Meriwether in October

Since last month’s gospel sing at the depot in Grantville was standing room only, director Roy Smith has decided to add another venue for the monthly events. Beginning in October, monthly gospel sings also will be held at the Old Prison Camp at the Meriwether County Airport in Harris City between Greenville and Warm Springs.

Two gospel sings are planned at the Grantville venue for Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept. 24, both set to begin at 7 p.m.

The Meriwether sing will be Saturday, Oct. 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Groups performing in Grantville on Sept. 23 include The Holbrooks Family from Alabama, The Ladies of Grace from LaGrange, HeavenBound 2 from Hogansville, Annette Ballard from Columbus, Gale and Marshall White from Grantville, and Marie Bulloch from Warm Springs.

On Sept. 24, the performers will be Dean Stephens from Franklin, Kevin Weginka from Hogansville, and Young Spirit from Manchester.

The Grantville Freight Depot is adjacent to Colley Park on Main Street in Grantville in southern Coweta County,off Exit 35 on Interstate 85.

For the Oct. 1 Meriwether sing, performers will be Annette Ballard from Columbus, Heaven Bound 2 from Hogansville, Gale and Marshall White from Grantville, and The Original Travelers from Columbus.

Both the Grantville Depot venue and the Meriwether Airport venue provide an informal, picnic-like atmosphere where refreshments are sold. One is free to come and go as he pleases and there is opportunity to chat with the performers. The events last from 2-3 hours. Admission is free at both venues and a free will offering is taken.
