Catholic Church of St.Gabriel will host Spiritual JourneyThe Catholic Church of St. Gabriel will host a fall mission entitled A Spiritual Journey in Search of the Living God, beginning Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. The mission will include meditations presented by the very Rev. Timothy Gadziala, J.C.L. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 7-8:15 p.m. Light refreshments, hosted by the various parish commissions, will be served after each talk. On Tuesday, Gadziala will offer a Mass at noon and will be available afterward to discuss Christian doctrine with those in attendance during a pot luck lunch. The parish has invited the entire community to attend. We hope many people from the community who are not familiar with the Catholic faith will join us to find out more about our faith, a church spokesman said. On Monday the meditation will focus on the life of Moses and the burning bush. The second evening the talk will center on Moses, Pharaoh and Ourselves: The Passage Through the Sea of Reeds. The final talk will be a meditation on The Servant of God: The life, Passion and Deaths of Moses and Jesus. The last night will be in the context of a holy hour and will conclude with benediction with the Blessed Sacrament. A native of Lilburn, Gadziala is an alumnus of the University of Georgia where he holds degrees in both philosophy and music education. He later was graduated from Mount St. Marys Seminary where he earned graduate degrees in divinity and sacred scripture. After his ordination he continued his education at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He also graduated from Catholic University where he holds a licentiate degree of canon law. Gadziala is currently a judge in the Metropolitan Tribunal of Atlanta. He is not assigned to a particular parish at this time, but travels throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta filling in for parishes whose priests are away for various reasons. He has lectured and given mission in parishes throughout the archdiocese and the nation and has served on numerous committees in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel is just south of the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 92 South at Antioch Road. Fr. Jimmy Adams is pastor of the congregation of just over 600 families. Additional information or directions can be obtained at the parish office, 770-461- 0492. |
