Olivet Baptists anniversary celebration starts Sept. 18Olivet Baptist Church and Ministries will celebrate its 14th church anniversary beginning next week, with activities continuing into the first week of October. The event will feature four special services. A tent service and church picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 18. BeSean Jackson, Olivets Dynamic Children, youth and young adult minister will preach the message. On Saturday, Sept. 24, a Christian Jazz Brunch recognizing the retirement of Olivets senior pastor and founder, Dr. Howard W. Creecy Sr., will headline the activities. The brunch will be held at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center at 10 a.m. Special services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, and Sunday, Oct. 2, at 7:45 and 10:45 a.m. The guest minister for the service held on Sept. 25 will be Dr. Cleopatick Lacey, pastor of Mt Zion Baptist Church in Griffin, and Minister U. A. Thompson, pastor of the Bride of Christ Ministries in Greenville, S. C. On Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, Olivet Youth will sponsor a city wide Gospel Explosion featuring youth talent from a variety of metro Atlanta churches.
