Bad Links? | Fville incumbents unopposed so farFrom Staff ReportsAs of press time Tuesday, the three Fayetteville City Council incumbents facing the voters this fall have no challengers. Post 3 council member Walt White, Post 4 council member Larry Dell and Post 5 council member Al Hovey-King have paid their council qualifying fees for new four-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2006. At this point they are unopposed. The qualifying period for the Nov. 8 election ends at 4:30 p.m. today. The qualifying fee is $195. Those interested in qualifying should contact Fayetteville City Clerk Judy Stephens. Voting Nov. 8 will take place at the citys two polling places. Residents who live north of Ga. Highway 54 will vote at the LaFayette Educational Center located at 205 Lafayette Ave. Residents who live south of Hwy. 54 will vote at Fayette County Library located at 1821 Heritage Park Way. In Tyrone, only one candidate has qualified. Town Clerk Valerie Fowler said Tuesday Kevin Edwards, 41, has qualified for the council seat currently held by Lisa Richardson. Edwards is a former Tyrone police officer and now works as an investigation officer for an insurance company. Richardsons position and Councilwoman Lyn Redwoods are up for election in November. Tyrones qualifying ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday. In Peachtree City, four candidates have qualified for the mayors race: incumbent Mayor Steve Brown, Phil Boswell, Harold Logsdon and Dar Thompson. Candidates in the Post 3 race currently held by Steve Rapson include Rapson and Stephen Boone. The third contested race in Peachtree City is Post 4, where incumbent Murray Weed is not seeking re-election. Candidates include Daniel Gibbs, Casimir Lukejan and Cynthia Plunkett. Peachtree Citys qualifying ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
