Bad Links? | Two hurt in Tyrone crashTwo girls were seriously injured in an early evening auto crash on Ga. Highway 74 in Tyrone Monday, police said. Although one of the victims was in really bad shape Monday night, police learned Tuesday morning that all are expected to survive their injuries, according to Tyrone Police Chief Johnny Hay. Two of the victims were transported to the trauma unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta via helicopter, officials said. One of those victims was identified as Crystal Monique McDonald, 17, of 145 Winterberry Ridge in Fairburn, who drove one of the vehicles in the crash, police said. The other victim, whose name was not immediately available Tuesday morning, was a passenger in the back seat of McDonald’s car, police said. A third passenger in the car was transported to Southern Regional Hospital, officials said. According to the preliminary accident report, McDonald’s 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage was going south on Hwy. 74 when it turned left onto Carriage Oaks, pulling into the path of a 1995 Volvo T5R driven by Matthew Paul Arsenault, 22, of Fairburn. Arsenault’s vehicle, heading northbound, struck the passenger’s side of McDonald’s car, police said. The crash occurred just before 6:30 p.m., and the highway was shut down for some time so the victims could be assisted and the medical helicopters could land, Hay said. |
