Bad Links? | Death at PTC plant likely accidentalBy JOHN MUNFORD Police have released the identity of a Peachtree City man found dead in an industrial cardboard compactor at the Panasonic plant there early Tuesday morning. Edgardo Enriquez Cruz, 57, of Twiggs Corner Condominiums, worked at the plant and had been reported missing Monday by family after he failed to return home from work Sunday night, police said. After that report, Panasonic supervisors checked the area but could not locate Cruz, police said. Police issued a statewide lookout for Cruz at the time. There is a strong indication that Cruz death was due to an accident, but the incident is still under investigation, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-631-2510. Callers may remain anonymous. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration has also been notified. The cardboard compactor machine is fed by a chute and conveyor system coming from the plant, police said. |
