Bad Links? | PTC qualifying starts MondayBy JOHN MUNFORD Calling all interested political wannabes: qualifying for Peachtree City Council positions begins Monday and lasts through Friday. The most crowded race so far is for Mayor, where incumbent Steve Brown faces challenges from three others who have announced their candidacy: gym owner Dar Thompson, financial planner Harold Logsdon and mortgage company president Phil Boswell. Two other council seats will be up for grabs: the post 3 seat currently held by Steve Rapson, who will run again, and the post 4 seat currently held by Murray Weed, who is declining to run for re-election as he prepares to seek another political office. Rapson will be faced by Stephen Boone, an executive consultant. But so far, only one candidate has announced a bid for Weeds seat: Dan Gibbs, a bankruptcy attorney who is married to Chamber of Commerce President Virginia Gibbs. Candidates must have lived in Peachtree City for at least six months and be no younger than 21. Candidates must also be registered to vote in the city. |
