Bad Links? | Developer to pay for new traffic light on Hwy. 74NBy JOHN MUNFORD Peachtree City will officially ask the Georgia Department of Transportation for another traffic light on Ga. Highway 74 North. This light would be at the intersection with Georgian Park, which is expected to see much more traffic in the future with development of the third phase of the Kedron Village shopping center, which includes a Target store and others. The cost of the traffic signal will be paid for by the developer of the shopping center, officials said. The City Council officially voted to apply for the new traffic signal at Thursday nights City Council meeting. Councilman Murray Weed, who lives in the area and has been pushing for the signal, thanked city staff for working on the project. This is the second time in two months that council has voted to seek a new traffic light in the city. Last month, council approved a similar request to the DOT for a traffic light on Ga. Highway 54 and Stevens Entry, since recent traffic counts indicated a light would be warranted. |
