Bad Links? | Body found in PTC trash compactorBy JOHN MUNFORD Peachtree City police are investigating the death of an unidentified person whose body was discovered in an industrial trash compactor at the Panasonic plant Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, an employee of the company has been reported missing by their family, said Maj. Mike DuPree of the Peachtree City Police Department. It has also been learned that one employee did not leave work over the weekend, DuPree said, adding that the body has not yet been positively identified. Detectives are working the case as they would a normal crime scene, until we know otherwise, DuPree said. It could be an accident, DuPree said. Police responded to the scene just after 7:30 a.m. when the body was discovered, DuPree said. The trash compactor handles cardboard waste and is attached to the building by a chute and conveyor belt, DuPree said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the inquiry and will perform the autopsy if necessary, DuPree added. It might another day or two before the body can be identified, DuPree said. |
