Bad Links? | McIntosh team wins big in big tournamentThe McIntosh Lady Chiefs swept eight straight matches against quality opponents to capture the championship in the Collins Hill Classic Volleyball Tournament last weekend. McIntosh grew stronger as the day wore on Saturday and rolled over the Milton Eagles 25-16, 25-7 in the championship match. Against Milton, Megan Cheatham served 12 winning points, while Danielle Crawford recorded 11 kills and Leah Thompson had 13 digs. Samantha Krehel and Andrea Lowery combined for three blocks and nine kills as everything clicked for McIntosh in the final match. Coach Wendy Weaver was pleased with her team but not entirely satisfied. The girls are learning how good they can be when they play as a team, said Weaver. This is a great win and the best part is we know we can continue to get better. McIntosh reached the finals after defeating Dunwoody, Brookwood, and Columbus on Saturday. Friday the Lady Chiefs won over Lovett, South Gwinnett, Collins Hill and Centennial. McIntosh is currently ranked third in AAAA in the GaSports.com coaches poll. Starrs Mill is ranked first in AAAAA and Landmark Christian is second in Class AA/A. | |
