Hopewell sets Pumpkin Festival, bazaar for Oct. 8The annual Pumpkin Festival hosted by Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will have a special added attraction this year the Pumpkin Patch Bazaar, featuring handicrafts crafted by local craftsmen. Farmers with produce to sell and those with home-canned food also are encouraged to participate in the event. The festival is planned for Saturday, Oct. 8 at the church, and is open to everyone in the community. There is no booth fee for displaying and selling handicrafts. The event will be held at the church, which is on Jenkins Rd., across from Sandy Creek High School. Jenkins Rd. runs between Ga. Hwy. 74 and Ellison Road. The church is patterning the event after an old-fashioned country fair. In addition to the bazaar, there will be food concessions, activities for the children, tons of pumpkins to buy, and much more. It is hoped that this will be an annual event where the community can come together to share their skills and bounty with their neighbors. The bazaar will be held inside the church between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Setup will be Friday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. Everything must be in place for the beginning of the festival on Saturday morning. Those displaying and selling handicrafts, produce and canned goods are asked to provide their own tables and display materials and everything must be dismantled and out of the church by 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Those wishing to secure display space must make a reservation by contacting Elaine Pierce at 770-487-4124, after 6 p.m. Deadline for reservations is Sunday, Sept. 25. |
