Bad Links? | STEP gears up for fall coursesSTEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) will begin its fall schedule starting in August. STEP is a 10-week workshop where parents learn how to better understand their childs behavior, help their child learn to be responsible for his or her behavior and feel comfortable in their parenting approach. The fall workshop series, scheduled to run Aug. 30-Nov. 1, will be held at Sandy Creek High each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. The course is free but there is a $15 charge to purchase a book that the participant gets to keep after the workshop is over. Parents interested in signing up for the workshop can pick up a registration form and additional information from their childs school counselor. Due to limited resources, childcare is not available. S.T.E.P. is offered under the Fayette County School Systems CARE (Children at Risk in Education) umbrella of programs, which are geared toward helping to create positive relations, reduce discipline problems, improve grades, decrease drop-out rates, increase attendance and improve students self-esteem. |
