Bad Links? | Venice tabbed for county administrator spotvBy JOHN THOMPSON The Fayette County Commission is expected to name Chris Venice Thursday night as the countys new administrator. Venice has served as acting administrator since late February when the county terminated the contract of County Administrator Chris Cofty. County Commission Executive Assistant Carol Chandler said details of the contract would not be available until Thursday evening after the commission votes on it during the consent agenda portion of the meeting. The reason the board cited for Coftys dismissal in February was that it was time for a change. Coftys contract called for four months severance if he was terminated from his position. With an annual salary of $119,800, Cofty received a nearly $40,000 severance package. The dismissal of Cofty marked the second time in five years that Fayette County went looking for an administrator. Cofty was picked as administrator in December 2000 after long-time administrator Bill Beckett left his post after philosophical differences with the county. |
