Bad Links? | Rezonings up for 128 homes, office park; more than 320 acres set for review by County CommissionBy JOHN THOMPSON The Fayette County Commission faces its largest rezoning agenda Thursday night in many months, if not years. The five-member board will hear requests to rezone more than 320 acres scattered over the central and northern parts of the county, which include requests for 128 new homes, an office park and a church expansion. The biggest single rezoning is a request from Ann Hammond and Agnes Scott College, Inc. to rezone 164.22 acres from AR to C-S to develop a proposed subdivision consisting of 65 single-family dwelling lots. The property fronts on Wagon Wheel Trail in the northern part of Fayette just south of Union City. County Commission Executive Assistant Carol Chandler said Agnes Scott College owns 2.91 acres of the property. Next in land size is a request from Humber Construction, LLC to rezone 80.44 acres from A-R to C-S to develop a proposed subdivision consisting of 32 single-family dwelling lots. The property fronts on McBride Road in the central part of the county midway between Fayetteville and Brooks. A third residential rezoning request is from Christine Parker Newton and Claudine Banks Oakley to rezone 39.03 acres from A-R to R-45 to develop 31 single-family homes. The property fronts on New Hope Road in northeast Fayette. A request from Ga. Highway 54 West, LLC would rezone 16.66 acres from A-R to O-I to develop an office park. The property is located on Hwy. 54 West near its intersection with Sandy Creek Road. Berachah Bible Church seeks to rezone 13.34 acres from A-R to R-40 to develop additional church facilities. The property fronts on Corinth Road in northeastern Fayette near the Clayton County line. A rare request for decreasing density comes from Ussiel Hernandez, who wants to rezone 7.50 acres from R-20 to A-R to allow agricultural-residential uses. The property fronts on Ga. Highway 92 North near Brogdon Road. |
