Bad Links? | School board studying book bagsBy JOHN THOMPSON Will clear and mesh books bag soon be a thing of the past for Coweta Countys 20,000 students? Thats the issue the Coweta County Board of Education is now studying. The issue arose after board member Frank Farmer had heard from some parents about the difficulties associated with the mesh bags. These bags allow water to seep in and sometimes ruin the books, Framer said. The school board had instituted a policy of clear and mesh book bags to try and prevent students bringing unwanted items to school. The bags allowed school officials to check the contents of the bags as students arrived at school. But board member Smith Pass suggested the board study the issue further before allowing different type of book bags. The Safety Committee made the original recommendation, and I think they need to make a recommendation back to us, she said. Farmer said he had no problem with further study, and said he would also gather more information. |
