Bad Links? | Two Fayette students in Governors Intern programThe Governors Office recently released the list of more than 50 college students participating in the Governors Intern Program for the summer. That list includes two students from Fayette County. Natalie D. Davis of Tyrone is working in the Department of Human Resources in Atlanta. The daughter of John Corley of Decatur, she attends Georgia State University and is majoring in social work. Phillip Christopher Hamilton of Fayetteville is working with Georgia Public Broadcasting in Atlanta. The son of Phillip Hamilton and Noreen Johnson, he attends Georgia State University and is majoring in criminal justice and sociology. Our intern program provides students the opportunity to serve the public and to earn real world experience outside of the classroom, said Gov. Sonny Perdue. We hope that their time spent working in state government is not only meaningful and exciting but also opens up the possibility of entering public service after they graduate. The Governor's Intern Program offers the best, brightest, and most ambitious college and lawstudents practical professional experience for one academic term in state government agencies throughoutGeorgia. Selection of interns is based on interests, area of expertise, maturity and academic record. The intern serves as a staff member with professionals in an area of interest to the student. Gov. Perdue strongly believes in the students of Georgia and has provided them with this rewarding opportunity to work in state government, said Jessica Hales, Governor's Intern Program coordinator. We want to give these students an experience of a lifetime. For more information on the program, contact the Governors Intern Program at 404-656-3804 or visit www.gov.state.ga.us. |
