Bad Links? | Chiefs feel confident about 2005 season By MICHAEL BOYLAN According to McIntosh High School head football coach Butch Prosser, the teams practices were great with the exception of extreme heat and lots of rain. It was real difficult to get it all in, said Prosser, although he and the team are entering the 2005 season with a good deal of confidence. Were healthy, looking good and rocking and rolling, said Prosser, who welcomes back tailbacks Jamael Owens and Zach Brown, quarterback Brendan Hall and an offensive line that may be one of the biggest in school history. Its as good a line as weve ever had, said Prosser, adding that the line is bigger and more aggressive than in past years, despite being fairly young. Prosser is also seeing this intenisty carry over to the defensive line, which is more also showing themselves to be more aggressive in the teams practices and scrimmages. Among the standouts on defense for the Chiefs are Anthony Caldwell, Jeff Patrie, James DAndrea and a transfer student, middle linebacker Jake White. On offense, Owens and Brown will be counted on to carry the Chiefs ground game, they will be assisted by fullback Nick Popeil as well as the teams receivers. One of the Chiefs better receivers, Drew Webb, has made a full recovery from an injury incurred last season and Prosser has seen him have a great camp. Though kicker Nader Jarun has graduated, Brett Buehler has taken over the duties and Prosser doesnt feel like the team will miss a beat with him handling kick-offs, field goals and extra points. Every game this year is a big game for the Chiefs because every game counts in the region standings. Last year, they went 4-6 and saw how close they came to going 6-4. The near misses should serve to remind the Chiefs to play hard for the duration of each game and to never give up.
