Bad Links? | Sleep Inn gets nod of approvalBy BEN NELMS Fairburns newest addition to the expanding Ga. Highway 74 Corridor got the go ahead Monday when the city council gave their approval for the 74-room Sleep Inn Motel. The third of four new motels positioned just east of I-85, the four-story Sleep Inn will be located behind the RaceTrac and Chevron properties and immediately south of Oakely Industrial Boulevard. The motel will be situated on 2.3 acres. An additional .27-acre portion of the tract is proposed for sale by owner Farid Khan to the owner of the adjacent RaceTrac development. City Administrator Jim Williams told council members the site plan for the project is in good shape. Among the required conditions for the motel site is development of the property in accordance with Hwy. 74 Overlay Zone, the accurate representation of city-owned water and sewer mains and the provision of a 20-foot wide easement for maintenance and submission of an accurate and timely property survey prior to approval of the final site plan.
