Bad Links? | School system passes the 20,000 markBy JOHN THOMPSON If you thought traffic around the schools during opening week was a little thicker, you were correct. By Wednesday, Coweta County schools had 20,032 students, which is 858 more students than the same time last year. Everything has gone fairly smooth this week. Weve had a few transportations issues, but nothing major, said Public Information Officer Dean Jackson. During Tuesdays board of education meeting, Superintendent of Education Blake Bass said school officials were still looking at individual grades at some schools. There are some schools that may have classes exceeding the maximum class size, and were working to correct that, he said. Bass added the biggest problem the system faces every year is transfer requests. There are only certain reasons where we can allow a student to transfer out of the home district. I hope people are patient and understand that, he said.
