New Playground at Kedron Rink Funded by Resurgens Orthopaedics

A new ADA compliant playground has been opened adjacent to the Kedron Multipurpose Rink. It was funded by a grant from the Resurgens Orthopaedics’ Charitable Foundation, which donated $44,970 to have the Gametime play equipment purchased and installed.

The play equipment will serve as an “all abilities” playground for area residents, rink users and the general public. Equipment selection was coordinated with members of Peachtree City’s All Children’s Playground Committee.

The Resurgens group, which consists of about 80 surgeons, offered to fund the play park after their other successful playground ventures were completed at Hammond and D.L. Stanton parks in Atlanta.

“We raise the money through our charitable foundation as a way to give back to the community,” said Dr. David Goodman with Resurgens Orthopaedics.

The foundation was formed in 2001 and undertook their first fund-raising effort in support of the American Red Cross in response to the September 11th terrorist homicide bombings. Their charity has expanded to include three all-ability playgrounds, Tsunami relief and youth safety seminars.

Resurgens Orthopaedics’ Charitable Foundation was established to fund worthwhile community projects, with a mission to “support our community with the opportunities to play, to heal, to learn and to live.”

The Peachtree City Recreation Department helped coordinate the effort, and the city also supplied the ground cover. “We are very pleased that the Resurgens Group chose Peachtree City as their first south metro location,” said Randy Gaddo, Director of Leisure Services. “This particular location is excellent and will serve a wide variety of citizens. It will be a very heavily used playground.”
