Christs Church announces new Wednesday programsChrists Church at Whitewater invites the community to its new Wednesday night fall programs. The program is entitled The Well, which, a spokesperson says, focuses on being renewed and refreshed by fellowship with Gods people and through His Word. An adult Bible study, led by Dr. Billy Strother, will begin Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 6:45 p.m. in the worship center. Strother will teach a series entitled, The Splagchna (Compassion) of Jesus Christ. Splagchna is a Greek word, which, according to Strother, captures the essence of Jesus ministry to people. Strother adds, The word splagchna is the key word in ten different stories in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Those texts reveal the intensity with which Jesus loves people and challenges all those who desire to be more like Him. Because we are followers of Christ, we all know that its all about Jesus. Also on Wednesday evenings, all middle and high school youth are encouraged to be a part of 2:42, an intense, high energy service designed to get students excited about the idea of being at church. Student mminister Tony Marr says, We focus on building friendships and basic biblical teaching. Each night of 2:42 offers our students the opportunity to experience a direct spiritual challenge. On the first Wednesday of each month, students will meet for 2:42 live, from 6-8 p.m. in the youth pavilion. On the following three Wednesdays, they will meet in small groups. Children preschool age through fifth grade are invited to attend Fast Track, a fast-paced, high-energy program, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Tina Parker, childrens minister, says that Fast Track provides opportunities for children to worship, participate in wild and crazy games, and spend time learning about character and faith. Wednesdays activities also include a nursery. Adult choir rehearsals are held from 6:30-8 p.m.and the orchestra will rehearse on the first Wednesday of the month from 8-9 p.m. A family meal is served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
