St. Andrews schedules tour of new parish hallThe entire membership of St. Andrews In-the-Pines Episcopal Church will Celebrate the Future with a special all-parish Holy Communion service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, followed by a picnic and tour of the churchs new, nearly completed parish hall. No services will be held on Saturday, and the 7 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Sunday services also have been cancelled. We hope the new parish hall will be completed for the October art auction, said Father Dan Brigham, rector of St. Andrews. Construction was hindered by the rainy summer. Before the hall could be framed, a new sewage hook-up to the Peachtree City system was necessary, and two retention ponds were built near the new parking area. The new parish hall is part of a three-phase, long range building project. Concurrently, new offices and a choir room are being built in the old parish hall, and new classrooms for the preschool and kindergarten are being added to the church basement. The new parish hall will accommodate more than 250 people in the expanded main room, which will be used for church dinners, special events, and receptions. Additional meeting rooms will accommodate the many community outreach and church ministry meetings. Plans also include a new kitchen. The final building phase, to begin once the parish hall is completed, includes expanding the transept and the chancel to accommodate the increasing number of worshipers. Brigham recently led the church choir in a tour of the new parish hall. Completion is scheduled for mid-October in time to host the annual art auction. |
