The tryouts will be on Aug. 1-4, 8 a.m. until noon at the Peachtree City Baseball Complex off of South Highway 74. Upcoming Freshman to Seniors are eligible. Camp/ tryout cost will be $200 Home Plate will be holding tryouts for the Spring 2006 Season. The tryouts will be on August 13-14 and the 20-21. The Saturday tryouts will be at Braelinn Fields in Peachtree City and Sundays will be at Home Plate. The tryouts will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be a team for each age group 8-14. The camps run Monday-Thursday. Camp begins with a warm up at 8:30 a.m. and will feature work on the swing, short game and putting, as well as lunch and videos and play on the par three course. Basketball camp in PTCThe Peachtree City Recreation Department will be offering Kedron Kids Basketball Camp at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center the week of Aug. 1-4 from 9:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. This exciting basketball camp is for boys and girls ages 6- 10 that want to have fun and learn about basketball. Campers will learn the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting and passing the basketball. All campers will participate in games and contests in which there will be prizes for each age group. There will be designated swim times each day of camp at the Kedron small pool. The fee is $101 and every camper will receive a trophy and a t- shirt. ECCA hosting golf and gamingThe ECCA will present a golf tournament and Las Vegas Night on Friday, Aug. 26 at the Flat Creek Country Club. The golfing begins at 9 a.m.and the gaming begins at 8 p.m. The fee for the golf tournament is $100 per person, which includes lunch. The fee for the Vegas night is $60 with a buffet starting at 7:30 p.m. These events are both fundraisers for the ECCA which provides money for the arts in Fayette County schools. Soccer coming to TyroneThe town of Tyrone is accepting registration for the Tyrone Youth Soccer League. Ages 3 and up are invited to join the league. Tennis Center offers summer campsThe Peachtree City Tennis Center will offer week long summer camps through August 5. There will be 10 one week camps for ages 4 - 18 year olds. The camps are for beginners to advanced players including a tournament camp for juniors preparing for the USTA summer tournament circuit. Water aerobics in PTCThe Peachtree City Recreation Department is currently offering Water Aerobics classes at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. The air- supported bubble is down for the summer and the sunny weather is upon us. These water aerobics classes are Hi and Low intensity aqua aerobics designed to target the five major components of fitness. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. Participants can sign up for two weeks at a time or the entire month. Dina Curtin, who is a certified water fitness instructor, will be providing instruction. Auburn hosting one-day baseball campsAuburn Baseball will be holding two one-day Labor Day Showcase camps on Sept. 4-5. Golden Olympics this fallAll men and women ages 50 and over are invited to participate in the Georgia Golden Olympics, Sept. 28-Oct. 1 in the City of Warner Robins, hosted by the Warner Robins Recreation Department. Participation entitles individual to a t-shirt, admission towards dinner, lunch on Saturday and medals for first, second or third place winners. Participants are responsible for knowing rules, regulations, physical requirements and abilities needed for their event. Registration fee of $20 if registered by Aug 1 ($35 after Aug. 1 until Aug. 15) entitles participant to enter three events of their choice with no time conflicts. A $6 fee per event is charged for each additional event over three. Archery, bowling, golf and tennis tournament have additional fees. The Archery fee is $7 the Bowling fee is $6 per event, the Golf fee is $18 which includes cart and greens fee, the tournament fee for tennis is $5, and the softball tournament fee is $50 per team. This fee covers your registration expenses only. It does not entitle participant to a t-shirt. Shirts are given to only those who participate. Horse show in Perry in SeptemberThe 33rd Paso Fino Horse Association Grand National Championship Show will be held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, in Perry, the Crossroads of Georgia. See the best of the best vie for various titles during the week-long event with competition beginning Sunday, Sept. 18 and running through Saturday, Sept. 24. Spectators will enjoy a full slate of 118 classes ranging from Versatility and Western, to Performance and Fino. In addition to the competition, with amateur, youth and open divisions, the event features a trade fair with approximately 50 vendors selling tack, gifts, clothing, jewelry, trailers and even RVs. Other events taking place during the Grand National Show include the Stallion Service Auction, Breeders Sweepstakes classes, six Geldings for Gold classes, programs and games for the youth, and various clinics and forums throughout the week.
