Bad Links? | Challenger team bound for Little League World SeriesIt will be the trip of a lifetime for the Peachtree City Little League Challenger All Stars. They will be flying high even after the plane arrives in Williamsport, Penn., for the premier event of youth baseball. The team was chosen from teams all over the United States to participate in a Little League World Series game Aug. 27. Supporters of the team have been hard at work raising funds to send the team, coaches and one parent to the event. This is so exciting for our kids and a definite boost to our Little League program. Most kids will never have the opportunity for this kind of international experience, remarked Nick Harris, Challenger ADA and Founder of Field of Hope. The city is planning a send-off event for the team on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater. The public is invited to attend and show support for our local team and send them off with echoes of cheers and well wishes ringing in their ears. The team is scheduled to depart on Flight 980 at 7:55 a.m on Aug. 26 and return on Flight 987 at 6:09 p.m. Aug. 28. Air Tran donated the flights. Team members include Alison Romano, Sydney Brown, Ethan Harris, Loren Davis, Nicholas Sanchez, Joshua Edwards, Edward Griffin, Matthew Hayes, Owen Apfel, Justin Holcombe, Corey LaMonde, and Steven Ochoa. Coaches are Colleen Romano, Sharon Brown and Michael Bird. For more information, contact the Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department at 770-631-2542.
