Bad Links? | Thursday Thunder races suspendedDue to the tornado damage Atlanta Motor Speedway sustained three weeks ago, Thursday Thunder activities were suspended. AMS worked feverishly to get the facility cleaned up in order to return to racing. Track officials decided to resume Thursday Thunder racing, however, could not open the grandstands to fans due to the reconstruction efforts on the Earnhardt and Champions grandstands and suites. Thursday night was the first time competitors were able to return to racing. Mother Nature almost had her way again with a downpour of rain 20 minutes prior to the start of the first feature. After the rain shower passed, director of events, Brandon Hutchison, made the call to resume racing activities with the Legends classes, as Legends cars are equipped to run under wet racing conditions. Ed Clark, President of Atlanta Motor Speedway, was the only local winner. He won the Roadsters race and it was his first win in a feature race at Thursday Thunder. Clark also had a ninth place finish in the Masters race. In the Rhino Video Games Chargers race, Brooks residents and brothers Billy and Joshua Fulson placed 10th and 12th respectively. Trey Maughan, formerly of Fayetteville, placed second in the Outlaws race and Brooks Matt Dooley placed 12th in the Atlanta Dental team Bandits race. There will be more racing this Thursday.
