Grief Share sessions start August 25 at PTC UMCGrief Share, a grief support group open to anyone who has lost a loved one, will begin a new fall class on Thursdays, starting Aug. 25, from 6:30-8 p.m. in room 308 of the Peachtree City United Methodist Churchs Robinson Road facility. The 14-week class will meet every Thursday night. The program is Christ-centered and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion format. Facilitators for the class will be Ed Craven, Helen Ragsdale and Lisa Mahaffey. Ed Craven and I started this group two years ago, Mahaffey said, and since then we have trained a couple of new facilitators (one being Helen Ragsdale) who have come to us out of one of the past Grief Share groups. People receive healing and they want to give back so a few have ended up taking a leadership role and leading future groups. Ragsdale lost her husband in August of 2003, Mahaffey said, adding, She has worked through the grieving process to a point where she really felt the calling to reach out to others now hurting. She is a shining example of the journey from mourning to joy. Ed and I are grateful for her assistance as it will give us a chance to take a much needed break from time to time. For more information, contact Mahaffey, 678-817-5641 or Ragsdale, 678-817-0238. |
