Bad Links? | Local players fill up Shorter 2005 teamShorter College will begin its first season of football in the fall of 2005 as a member institution of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) and will participate in the Mid-South Football Conference. As a part of these two organizations, the school will compete for both conference and national championships. We are really excited about the young men from Fayette and Coweta Counties that will become a part of our program. They have just a bunch of good kids, stated head Coach Phil Jones. Because of that, we believe there will be a great deal of interest in our team from that area. In making the announcement, the school released its roster of players from the two counties. Included are players from Our Lady of Mercy, Newnan, Northgate, Sandy Creek and Starrs Mill high schools. They are: Jason Barber, Newnan High School, OL , 61 - 270 Phillip Dillard, Northgate High School, K/P, 511 - 175 Ryan Gloer, Starrs Mill High School, LB, 60 - 215 Kenneth James, Starrs Mill High School, DB, 511 - 198 Logan Kimsey, Northgate High School, RB, 59 - 155 Demetric McDonald, Sandy Creek High School, TE, 63 - 215 Bernard Michel, Our Lady of Mercy High School, DL, 62 - 200 Nick Veal , Newnan High School, OL, 61 - 255 The Hawks season begins Saturday, Sept. 10 with a 1:30 p.m. home start against Webber International.
