Bad Links? | Fundraiser set for Veterans Wall of HonorU.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland will be the keynote speaker at the Veterans Wall of Honor fundraising dinner Friday, Aug. 12, at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church, 2400 Ga. Highway 42 North in McDonough. A 6 p.m. reception will be followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tax-deductible tickets are available for $150. Information about the dinner and purchasing tickets is available at www.veteranswallofhonor.org. The Veterans Wall of Honor will pay tribute to the bravery, duty and sacrifice of America's service men and women. It is planned for Heritage Park in McDonough. The 80-foot granite wall will sit on a two and a half acre site surrounded by the flags for the fifty states and each branch of the military. Images of battleships, agonized faces, scenes of victory, the Tomb of the Unknown and Arlington Cemetery will be laser-etched in the granite or depicted in bronze plaques and set into the face of the wall. Inspirational poems and quotations from Presidents and Military leaders will be a lasting reminder to visitors of the price of freedom. Walkways to the Wall of Honor will be inlaid with paver bricks personalized in honor of veterans and sponsors of the memorial. The Veterans Wall of Honor is designed to bring people together in a place that will forever remember America's veterans.
