Bad Links? | Teachers win trip to New York Stock ExchangeThree teachers from Peeples Elementary toured the New York Stock Exchange as part of a weeklong workshop on economic education. Lee Digiovanni, Kathy Harrell and Karen Mizell were awarded the trip by the Georgia Council on Economic Education for being the advisors of the winning Georgia team for the fall 2004 Stock Market Game. While at the stock exchange, the teachers visited the trading floor, listened to presentations from John Thain, CEO, Margaret Tutwiler, executive vice president of communications and government relations and many other top executives with the NYSE. Not only did the teachers get a first hand look at how the stock exchange conducts business, but they also learned about the new hybrid market and the merger with Archipelago, another stock exchange based out of Chicago. This experience was absolutely incredible and will truly enhance the stock market game experience for our students as much that was learned at the workshop will be added to our unit, said Digiovanni. The workshop was held in June. |
